The Rising Sun

The Rising sun is right on the bridge over the river Allen, not far from the Cricketer's.

A Badger pub it serves at least two of their ales, plus the usual array of non real products. With low-ish ceilings it has the feel of a real old fashioned local.

The bar is 'L' shaped and faces you on entrance. It's a wooden affair and is welcoming. There is seating to the left and right of the entrance which is dark wood tables and chairs. There are quite a lot of supporting beams here (listed building) and so you get many natural nooks and crannies.

Some areas are slightly raised by about two inches off the ground. Here there is also a big sports screen which can dominate the pub if not too careful.

Passing through the pub towards the back is the eating area - a long thin room - and access to the toilets is here also.

Food, all home cooked, is served all day and is of the traditional variety, though there are some good specials - not a lot for vegetarians. Prices are about average for this area - that means a little more than us Northerners are used to.

There is a beer garden by the side of the river for the summer.

A small car park is here also - essential for Wimborne.

The Sun also has live music and the occasional disco.
