Tan Hill Inn

Getting to the Tan Hill Inn is via negotiating single tracks in the remote moors of the North Yorkshire Dales. This can be a challenge in winter, but the Tan Hill Inn has a novel solution. They bought a tracked utility vehicle which can negotiate the harshest terrain and will pick you up in winter - though ring first! Once you get here there are stunning views.

The Tan Hill Inn dates from the 17th century which gives the bar a rustic charm with open beams and stone flagged floor. The real fire blazes in the grate almost every day of the year, and first arrivals usually claim the converted seats by the hearth. There is also a newly refurbished non-smoking lounge.

Home cooked food from bar snacks to main meals are served every day between 12-2.30pm, and 7-9pm. You don’t need to book in advance, but larger parties should ring ahead. They also cater for children’s parties, meetings, and functions. Vegetarians can be catered for as can other dietary requirements, but again ring ahead to check.

There is en-suite accommodation available and longer stays attract a discount - see website for details.

The Tan Hill Inn also does a full diary of entertainment including folk music, Rock ‘n’ Roll, but also hosts car rallies and can even meet your wedding licence and reception needs in the barn - animals optional.

The Tan Hill Inn has a full range of animals both domesticated and wild in attendance, including sheep that think they are customers.

The Tan Hill also offers free wi-fi if you must check your email no matter where you are.
